Skrabanek finished a transcription of Ya No Me Quieres as performed by Angel Rodriguez and Maria Alejandres for Samantha Burke. Rodriguez’ style employs the full range of the instrument with full chords, octaves and sudden dynamic contrasts. Also work on Covenant Prayer from the John Wesley Covenant Service was polished up by Skrabanek in Finale 2014 for subsequent publication.
Skrabanek played a slew of musical theater tunes, Brahms, and Gershwin for a party at the Sutherland’s in Decatur, a celebration of Mr. Sutherland’s retirement from the medical profession and the birthday of her brother-in-law. A sparkling night of good cheer, capped off with a fireside afterglow in the backyard.

I attended the ASO’s performance January 21st of Bruckner’s 9th Symphony and the ASOC joining them for his Te Deum. Bruckner reached for heaven in these works written at the end of his life, a language of Wagnerian extended harmony and long phrases with churning sequences of majestic chords. Sitting in a prime seat in Loge front and center, I witnessed a monumental reading of these great works. Bruckner symphonies are lip-busting undertakings for the
