Skrabanek finished a transcription of Ya No Me Quieres as performed by Angel Rodriguez and Maria Alejandres for Samantha Burke.  Rodriguez’ style employs the full range of the instrument with full chords, octaves and sudden dynamic contrasts.  Also work on Covenant Prayer from the John Wesley Covenant Service was polished up by Skrabanek in Finale 2014 for subsequent publication.

Skrabanek Plays Party in Decatur

Skrabanek played a slew of musical theater tunes, Brahms, and Gershwin for a party at the Sutherland’s in Decatur, a celebration of Mr. Sutherland’s retirement from the medical profession and the birthday of her brother-in-law.  A sparkling night of good cheer, capped off with a fireside afterglow in the backyard.
Arietha Lockhart & Todd Skrabanek Todd Skrabanek will perform Brahms Variations in D major, Op. 21 no. 1 and Chopin Sonata No. 2 in b minor, Op. 58 and accompany soprano Arietha Lockhart in Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 in a concert in the Recital Hall of the Steinway Piano Galleries, 5950 North Point Pkwy., Alpharetta, GA 30022 on Sunday, June 25th at 3:00 PM.  The piano, a Steinway D, has been lovingly nurtured
Skrabanek will accompany soprano Samantha Burke, baritone Jarius Cliett and soprano Amanda Caban in a varied program of arias, spirituals, Romantic and contemporary art songs at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church Wednesday, January 25th at 6:00 PM.  The church is located at 5801 Hugh Howell Road, Tucker, GA 30087. An offering will be taken to benefit the operating budget of the Church.

Thoughts on ASOC Bruckner Concert

I attended the ASO’s performance January 21st of Bruckner’s 9th Symphony and the ASOC joining them for his Te Deum.  Bruckner reached for heaven in these works written at the end of his life, a language of Wagnerian extended harmony and long phrases with churning sequences of majestic chords. Sitting in a prime seat in Loge front and center, I witnessed a monumental reading of these great works.  Bruckner symphonies are lip-busting undertakings for the
